The Football Association has released the National League System Club allocations for Steps 5 to 6 ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The big headline for Berkshire is the division swapping of Thatcham Town and Virginia Water with the Kingfishers moved to the Combined Counties League Premier Division North while the Waters replace them in the South Division.
Virginia Water will ground share at Chertsey Town’s Alwyns Lane for the 2026/2027 season.
Joining Thatcham in the North are Abingdon United, Burnham, Holyport, Reading City, Wallingford & Crowmarsh and Wokingham Town of the Football in Berkshire covered sides.
26/27 allocations: Windsor & Eton into Isthmian League and Hungerford Town in Southern League South division
In the South, Virginia Water will face reprieved Camberley Town, Eversley & California, Jamie McClurg’s Fleet Town, Tadley Calleva and promoted Yateley United.
Maidenhead Town won promotion to Step 6 from the Thames Valley Premier League after finishing ahead of Newbury Town and they will face several former TVPL sides including Berks County and Woodley United with Langley also in the division.
The Combined Counties League Division One still remains one of the larger Step 6 divisions ahead of proposed pyramid changes at the level in a seasons time.
Sandhurst Town meanwhile have been moved to the Wessex League Division One after retaining their Step 6 status and they’ll join Kintbury Rangers and AFC Aldermaston.
