Combined Counties League Thatcham Town have secured the services of their captain Callum Willmoth for another season.
The Kingfishers have been moved sideways from the Step 5 Combined Counties League Premier Division South to the Premier Division North after finishing 15th in the South division last season.
The move – which is nothing to do with performance and all to do with geography – means tantalising ties against fellow Berkshire sides Reading City, Wokingham Town and Holyport but removes the more local derbies of Fleet Town and Tadley Calleva.
Manager Cameron Philbey has secured captain Callum Willmoth for another season saying: “As a key leader on the pitch, his impact extends far beyond matchdays. His dedication to the club is exemplary; he consistently sets the standard for the squad, and his technical quality and wealth of experience are invaluable assets to our group.”
Willmoth played 37 times for the Kingfishers last season and will be joined back at Waterside Park by centre-back Archie Denton – one of only three players to feature more times than Willmoth.
The club have also confirmed the retention of full-back Callum Winchcombe.
One departure for the club is Curtis Angell who has moved to join Jamie McClurg’s Premier Division South revolution at Fleet Town.
