Mortimer boss Mike Hancock announces departure

The Thames Valley Premier League side are regrouping for the new season

Thames Valley Premier League side Mortimer are looking for a new manager after Mike Hancock announced his decision to step down.

Hancock – former Reading Town and Bracknell Town centre back – has been in charge of the West Berkshire side for several seasons and lead the side this year in Division One.

Announcing his decision on social media, Hancock said: “It had been a tough decision to make but I have decided to step down as manager of Mortimer football club. I’d like to thank everyone for all their efforts, Plummy, Matthew Gabb and Matt C for all their support behind the scenes. Michael Buck an absolute legend and have loved working alongside you.”

It’s been a difficult season for Mortimer, the club made the decision to fold their first team which played in the Hellenic League Division Two, in October and have focused efforts on their reserve side in the TVPL.

The club are busy recruiting for 2025/26, including an intention to relaunch their women’s side. More details can be found on the club’s Facebook page here.
