SB Phoenix fly into Charles Twelftree Cup Final

SB Phoenix made it to the final of the Charles Twelftree Trophy on Saturday with an impressive penalty shootout victory over current Thames Valley Premier League champions FInchampstead. Phoenix are currently in third place in Thames Valley Division One so went into the tie as big underdogs.

The game had ended 1-1 at full time but SB Phoenix won out on penalties with a nervy 4-3 victory. Attention now turns to league football for Finchampstead who are currently chasing Burghfield in an attempt to retain their Thames Valley Premier League crown.

Penalty exploits were nothing new for Phoenix, the club having defeated Richings Park and Great Horwood in the last 16 and Quarter FInals of this competition. It’s been a long route to the final for SB Phoenix who began the competition in the preliminary round defeating Oving 10-1.

SB Phoenix will face Oxfordshire Senior League side Kennington Athletic in the final. The Kenny Men won 3-2 at Aston Clinton on Saturday to secure their final spot.

Date and location of the Berks and Bucks Charles Twelftrees Trophy Final are yet to be confirmed.
