Windsor & Eton are a step closer to three promotions in three seasons after winning their Combined Counties League Premier Division North play-off semi-final at home to Burnham.
The Royalists won the one-legged semi-final 1-0 courtesy of a 57th Jack Shakespeare goal after Windsor had finished runners up in the league behind champions Ashford Town (Middlesex).
Rob Webb’s side had been playing catch-up in terms of league fixtures with five consecutive matches on the road. They should be favourites now in the final against Broadfields United who beat Ardley United on penalties – and it’ll be home comforts again on Saturday at Stag Meadow – you can bet the attendance will top the 833 reported for the semi-final.
Windsor’s record this season against Broadfields is played two, drawn two. So it’s winner takes all!
For Burnham, disappointed again after a second season of play-off heartbreak, you can expect the Blues to be back fighting at the top of the table again next season.

On Wednesday night, Maidenhead United begin the slightly more arduous National League South play-off process after qualifying on goal difference from Maidstone United and Ebbsflett United on Saturday.
The first ‘eliminator game has already been played with Weston-super-Mare beating Hemel Hempstead Town 6-5 on penalties. The Magpies travel to Dorking Wanderers for the second one with Torquay United awaiting the winner of Saturday.
The play-off final is scheduled for Saturday 9th May, but as the lowest placed finisher in the play-offs, should they reach the final, Maidenhead will be on the road for all the games.
Also on Wednesday night, Yateley United can reach the Wessex League Division One play-off final but are at home to Colden Common, with Whitchurch United awaiting in the final after they beat Folland Sports 1-0.
