Bracknell Town have announced long-serving midfielder Max Herbert has departed the club.

Herbert is one of the most familiar faces in the squad having initially joined the Robins in 2018 on dual registration with Ashford Town (Middlesex) when Bracknell were still in the Hellenic League.

At the time of his signature, Football in Berkshire wrote: “Herbert is a left back by trade but equally at home in central midfield and on the wing according to the Ashford website and joined the Tangerines initially on loan from Brentford and has also spent time with Wycombe Wanderers.”

A former captain, Herbert’s departure was announced on the club’s social media channels, which said: “Bracknell Town Football Club can confirm that Max Herbert has requested that his contract be mutually terminated, which the club has agreed to.

“Max has been a valued member of the Robins during his time at the club and has played an important role in some significant moments in our recent history. Notably, he was part of the squad that secured promotion to Step 3 and contributed to the club reaching the FA Cup First Round on two occasions, achievements that will remain proud milestones for everyone connected with Bracknell Town.

“Everyone at the club would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Max for his commitment, professionalism and contribution during his time at the SB Stadium.

“We wish Max the very best for the next chapter of his career.”

Commenting on Herbert’s departure, Bracknell Town fan and Football in Berkshire writer Steve Gabb said: “Terrific footballer and always such a calm head in midfield. His stand-out performance for the Robins was away at Cambridge United in the FA Cup where he didn’t look out of place against League One opposition.”

The now Southern League Premier Division South side have recently seen Joe Grant and Seb Bowerman depart Bottom Meadow. Carl Davies’ side are at home to Gosport Borough on Saturday (3pm).
