Chelsea’s Aimee Claypole has made a loan move to Championship side Durham Women.

The striker spent the first half of the season on loan at Swedish Damallsvenskan side Linkoping where she scored three times in 14 games – two of those matches in the Women’s Champions League.

Claypole previously featured in the Championship for Lewes in 23/24 and has made several first team appearances for Chelsea in the FA WSL an Adobe Women’s FA Cup. She has also represented England at under-19 level.

Speaking to the club website about the move, Bracknell-born Claypole said of her decision to head to the North East: “The ambition that the Club has shown is something that I’m really after as well, to be at a team competing at the top.

“I’m sure this is where I can develop too. Speaking to the guys before signing, it really aligned with something that I want to achieve.”

A statement on the Chelsea website said: “Everyone at Chelsea would like to wish Aimee every success at Durham, and we look forward to watching her progress during the rest of the season.”
