Chelsea’s on loan forward Aimee Claypole made her full debut for Lewes in the FA Women’s Championship on Sunday afternoon.

The Bracknell born attacker moved to the South Coast over the last fortnight on loan from the Blues, and what better team to face than her youth side Reading FC Women.

Lewes were 2-0 up in the tie in Sussex before Reading snatched a point in injury time – the second time in succession the Rooks have dropped points late in games.

Claypole – who signed a professional contract with Chelsea in November – came off the bench in Lewes’ previous match, a 1-1 draw with Durham.

Given Reading’s recent movement in the loan market with the signings of Jessie Woolley (Bristol City) and Jessie Stapleton (West Ham United), one wonders if there was a missed opportunity in seeing Claypole back in the blue and white hoops during the summer transfer window.
