Former Bracknell Town and Hungerford Town manager Bobby Wilkinson hasn’t had to wait long for his next managerial opportunity.

Vanarama National League South Hemel Hempstead Town have confirmed the former Weymouth manager will take over with immediate affect. Mike Percival has been confirmed as Assistant Manager at The Tudors.

A statement on the Hemel website said: “Following a thorough recruitment process, Bobby emerged as the standout candidate, boasting a wealth of experience and a proven track record wherever he has gone. Following this process, Bobby has agreed to come in earlier than planned so he can get to work immediately, based on the current scenario.

“Given Bobby’s undeniable qualities and the urgent need for stability, the club has made the decision to appoint him now, allowing him and his management team time to secure our safety this season and prepare thoroughly for the next season.”

Last season, Wilkinson pulled off a minor miracle in keeping Weymouth at Step 2 on the final day of the season.

Recently, several social media commenters had speculated the surprising change at Southern League Walton & Hersham might be linked to the availability of former Wealdstone, Hungerford and Bracknell manager.
