In a series of posts on social media, Ascot United confirmed that Andy Cox would step down as Women’s First Team manager after two seasons at the helm.
Cox steered the Yellas to promotion from the Southern Region Women’s Football League to Tier 4 football for the first time in their history and has cemented a seventh place finish in their debut season.
Ascot wrote the following statement, “Ascot United can confirm that Andy Cox has stepped down from his role as First Team Manager with immediate effect.”
Meanwhile, their Director of Women’s & Girls Football, Donna Wilson commented the following, ‘Over his time at the club, Andy has played a huge part in the continued growth and success of the women’s section, helping build strong foundations both on and off the pitch. Playing his part in the history books this season with the Women’s team playing at their highest ever level and winning the Berks & Bucks County Cup Final. His passion, commitment, and dedication to the girls’ and women’s game have been evident throughout his time with us’.”
They closed their statement with the following, “Everyone at the club would like to place on record our sincere thanks for everything Andy has contributed during his tenure. We are extremely grateful for the hard work, time, and energy he has given to the club and the players. We wish Andy and his family all the very best for the future, and he will always be welcome at Ascot United.”
