Mel Povey is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Best Content Creator sponsored by XLFC.
The Cityzens as a group won this award in 2025 and Mel’s nomination gives the club the opportunity to retain it.
One nomination for the award said: Mel is at Reading College doing a media course. She has been volunteering at Reading City FC for two seasons now, starting out covering live matches on X for the Under 23’s team, she wrote match previews, did interviews with the management and match reports. Mel was promoted to 1st Team Media Lead for the 25/26 season, again she covers live matches, does post match interviews and match reports (she also does club photography and created/directed a kit launch video). Very talented young lady and hopefully the club will nominate her too as they are so impressed with her.”
Another added about the club’s approach to content creation: “Reading City Football Club doesn’t just create content—they craft experiences. Every post, video, and story captures the heart of the club, bringing fans closer to the team than ever before. Their innovative approach turns matchdays into compelling narratives that excite, inspire, and unite the community. This isn’t just content; it’s a powerful connection that grows the club’s brand, amplifies fan engagement, and sets the standard for football storytelling. For consistently raising the bar, Reading City Football Club unquestionably deserves to retain the title of Best Content Creator.”
