In order to be promoted from Step 7 into the national league system there are a variety of regulations clubs need to satisfy in order to do so. One of them is access to a ground that is able to host football at Step 6. In order to be considered for promotion, the club must play the current season (2021/22) at this venue.

In the Thames Valley Premier League there are three clubs that we feel may have the facilities to play in Step 6. In order to claim a promotion, the club must finish in the top five of the Thames Valley Premier League and have made an application for promotion (Berks County were the only TVPL side to apply last season). You can read through the TVPL title-race runners and riders here.

Marlow United

Marlow United finished the end of last season playing at Gossmore Lane. However for the 2021/22 season they have returned to Marlow FC’s Alfred Davis Memorial Ground. United played football at Marlow FC during their 2019/20 season in the Hellenic League before dropping back into the Thames Valley League.

Marlow United do have a history of playing higher in the football pyramid having spent two seasons in the Hellenic League Premier Division from 2008 to 2010.

Marlow United are currently in twelfth place in the Thames Valley Premier League.

Yateley United

Yateley’s chances of promotion are a little bit more difficult to ascertain than others. They are currently undergoing ground improvements at Sean Devereux Park. These improvements include new floodlights as well as a clubhouse. In order to be eligible for promotion, these works will have to be completed before a set date.

Yateley’s name has appeared on draft lists seen online of those who have applied, though we await formal notification from the FA for this.

Yateley United are currently in fifth place in the Thames Valley Premier League.

Wraysbury moved the short distance from their village in far east Berkshire to play at Staines Town in west Surrey. Staines Town have hosted Chelsea Women in the past as well as playing at a very high level in the non-league pyramid. Staines currently play in the Isthmian League in the same division as Binfield, Bracknell Town and Thatcham Town

Wraysbury are currently tenth in the Thames Valley Premier League.
