A familiar face will be back in a Woodley United tracksuit next season as James Anderson takes up the role of Woodley United Royals manager.

Anderson previously managed Woodley’s first team in the clubs sole Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division season, stepping in after the departure of Michael Herbert in 2017/18.

The news was announced on the clubs website and confirmed Anderson would be joined by Richard Wilkinson as Assistant Manager: “James returns to the club to manage the team having managed the 1st team in the Hellenic Premier Division in 2017-18. Richard joins as assistant manager and holds the FA level 2 coaching qualification. Well and enjoy your time at Woodley United FC.”

The Royals play in the Thames Valley Premier League Premier Division and will be looking to support new first team manager Christian Parker who was appointed in April replacing Jamie Williams who is now working with Reading City’s under 23 team.

Anderson’s previous spell at the club saw the Kestrels fight valiantly against relegation but ultimately finish 19th, a season after winning promotion from Division One East.
