Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division North Reading City have added some experience to their side for the 2022/23 season.

Former Binfield attacker Joel Valentin has signed on with the Cityzens while ex-Ascot United defender Callum Carlisle has also signed on.

Valentin joins another former Mole – Phil Veal – at the Rivermoor along with the club’s captain Jemel Johnson – all three were important players in Binfield’s run to the FA Vase Final.

Writing on the club’s website, City manager Simon Johnson said: “I’ve been a fan of Joel for a long time. He’s another player we can add to the squad with an FA Vase Final under his belt, and although such a young talent, that experience will benefit our changing room no end. A versatile midfielder with a point to prove, so I’m excited to see him perform this season! Welcome Joel.”

As well as Valentin and Carlisle, City have been able to bolster their defence with the return of Alfie Grant who has spent some time out of the game following rehabilitation from a knee injury.
