Former Maidenhead United full-back Rene Steer has been confirmed as a second signing of the summer for Vanarama National League South side Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Steer – who opted to leave York Road this summer – made over 140 appearances for the Magpies and was part of the squad that earned promotion to the top tier of non-league football.
The left back was one of a number of players who departed Maidenhead in the summer along with Danny Whitehall (Kilmarnock) and Josh Kelly, though the latter is now back in the frame at York Road.
Announcing the move, the Beavers tweeted: “Our second signing in as many days is defensive rock Rene Steer!”
And Steer has lofty goals for the season ahead with the club, in an interview on the official website, he said: “When I spoke to Gary [McCann], he explained his philosophy, what he’s trying to do and I believe in it.
“My aim is to get this team up, be it by (automatic) promotion or play-offs, that’s the goal.”
There has already been some transfer movement between the two clubs this summer with Beavers striker Danilo Orsi-Dadomo stepping up a division to join Maidenhead.
