Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side Binfield have announced the return of a former Hill Farm Lane favourite on Sunday afternoon.
Carl Davies will be back in Binfield colours next season after a successful and eventful spell at Bracknell Town and prior to that, Burnham.
Davies – who played once for Binfield last season on dual registration linking up with former striker partner Ian Davies – won multiple Hellenic League trophies at Bracknell as well as promotion to the Isthmian League as well as managing the side in a player/manager role.
Moles manager Roger Herridge has described Davies signing as ‘out of the blue‘.
A tweet from Binfield said: “With just under a week to go until we start the new season Brimscombe & Thrupp we are delighted to a announce a new signing with Carl Davies returning to the club after a succesfull spell at our locals rivals Bracknell Town. Welcome back Carl.”
Previously a striker at Binfield, Davies was converted to a centre back where he played predominantly for Bracknell as captain and was appointed player manager in February 2018, replacing Paul McGrotty and Jeff Lamb.
He led the side to a Hellenic League Challenge Cup Final triumph at the end of the season and saw his side narrowly pipped to the Hellenic League title by Thatcham Town – although the Robins were still promoted to step 4.
Davies announced his departure from Bracknell at the end of the 2018/19 season having stepped down as player manager in November and joins another former team mate, Carl Withers, in returning to Hill Farm Lane this summer.
