The latest milestone in James Richardson’s career saw him captain Ascot United on Wednesday night as the Yellamen advanced in the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup.

Ascot were 2-1 winners at Balham with manager Jamie Tompkins opting to field a number of youngsters in the tie, but not before going behind to a fourth minute own goal.

Aiden Higgs was on target to level things up on 19 minutes with an assist from Richardson and the youngster had a hand in the winner as Harry Laflin made it 2-1 from Richardson’s free kick.

Richardson was awarded the clubs man of the match reward and the Yellamen’s twitter account revealed that at 18, the former England Schoolboy was youngest player ever to captain the senior side.
