The weather and cup ties meant there were just two league games in the Premier Division of the Thames Valley Premier League on Saturday with Berks County’s home tie against Finchampstead, unsurprisingly one of the games to go ahead.

County could have leap-frogged Reading City and Westwood Wanderers at the weekend but couldn’t beat the Finches.

Elsewhere Mortimer’s resurgance continued at the other end of the table under interim boss Stuart Plumridge.

Berks County 1 Finchampstead 2

With Maidenhead Town and Reading City U23 not in action this weekend Berks County had a chance to go top of the league. However Finch had other ideas and goals from Alex Woodhead and Nick Payne handed the away side a 2-1 victory over the Swords at Ryeish Green Sports Hub.

Mortimer 1 Windlesham United 0

The Villagers completed the double over Windlesham with a hard-fought 1-0 victory. Lee Vincent with the goal for the home side.

This weekend Mortimer also confirmed that Stuart Plumridge will take charge of first team affairs until the end of the season.
