Thatcham Town marched on in the 2019/20 Buildbase FA Trophy after going in 1-0 down at half time to Barnstaple Town.

The Kingfishers rallied in the second though when Callum Willmoth scored twice and George Jeacock rounded off the afternoon with a 3-1 win.

Bracknell Town were knocked out 2-1 though despite Dan Carr’s equaliser, Haywards Heath Town goalkeeper Luke Glover scoring a quite unbelievable late winner.

Nick Calvert reports: “On the 88th minute the vital act occurred when Glover hoofed an extra-long goal kick up field, and almost immediately it was apparent that his counterpart Wheeler would need to be concentrating fully because he was back tracking to try and get back on his line.

“However he seemed to misjudge the bounce, and then found himself unable to get back to palm it out.  For one side ecstasy as the Blues rushed to hug Glover for making it 2-1 with so little time to go.”

In the FA Vase, a Harry Laflin hat trick sent Ascot United on their way to a 5-1 win at SC Thamesmead. Ben Hodge and Ian Davies got the other goals for the Yellamen. You can read Neal Jeffs report here.

The other Vase tie between Egham Town and Binfield was postponed due to the weather.
