Newbury’s sensational start goes on, Burghfield FC through in County Cup

Newbury’s return to the top of the step 7 tree continues to go well with their 100% record in tact after four Thames Valley Premier League fixtures.

The other side with a perfect record at Maidenhead Town, though they have only played three league games so far.

At the other end of the table, Wraysbury are still looking for their first points and they went out of the County Cup at the first hurdle on Saturday.

Finch were 1-0 up at half-time from a Cameron Pritchard strike, but a four goal comeback from Richings Park in the second half handed the away side all three points. John Swift, Callum Maley (2) and Billy Hanley with the Richings Park goals.

Newbury’s superb start to the season continued on Saturday when they moved to the top of the TVPL with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Windlesham.

Karl Curtis’ side saw Jordan Cox finish with a remarkable four goal haul on Saturday afternoon, although he wasn’t too convinced with his first half performance. Luke Gray scored Newbury’s other goal. Tyron Cox scored United’s consolation.

Mohammed Drammeh Kabbah and Harry Peters were goalscorers in Reading City’s 3-0 victory over Woodley on Saturday.

Westwood Wanderers 2 Mortimer 0

Goals from Calum McCulloch and Matty Badger handed the Wood a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Mortimer in the league.

Woodcote 2 Berks County 0

Goals from Tommy Chapman and Jake Dillon were enough to give home side Woodcote all three points against Berks County.

An impressive home victory at Burghfield Rec over Hellenic League opposition.

Holyport 4 Wraysbury Village 1

A difficult afternoon for Wraysbury at Hellenic League Holyport. Nico Harris scored the Villagers consolation goal in a 4-1 loss.

Maidenhead Town 3 Cookham Dean 5

Two red cards and eight goals at Bisham Abbey on Saturday afternoon ended with Cookham Dean moving into the next round of the cup.

Remarkably Dean were five goals up at half-time before a second half comeback from Town.

Cookham Dean’s goals were scored by Jack Alder, Nathan Lishman, Joseph Newman with John Schaaf getting two. Consolation goals for Maidenhead were scored by Duarte Surpanu (2) and Daniel Hoskins.
