Reading City’s unbeaten start ends and all Tuesdays scores and scorers

Reading City’s unbeaten start to the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division season ended on Tuesday night courtesy of 42-year-old Marcus Richardson and former winger Khalid Simmo.

Simmo, impressive for City in their opening day win over Shrivenham and watched by Football in Berkshire, swapped Scours Lane for Flackwell Heath last week and quickly reminded everyone why he was highly rated with the third goal in a 3-1 win.

The Heathens Josh Baines opened the scoring on the half hour but City levelled from the spot on 40 minutes to go in level.

Richardson, also the Buckinghamshire sides manager introduced himself to play on 72 minutes and gave his side the lead 10 minutes later, heading home from a free kick.

And Simmo made it safe in the fifth minute of injury time to give Flackwell only their second win of the season so far.

Windsor were beaten 3-2 at home by Ardley United, Jay O’Connell and Jake Sobalak on the score sheet for the Royalists while an Adam McNamara wasn’t enough for Virginia Water as they were beaten 2-1 at Holmer Green.

Holyport did things the hard way at Milton United, coming from 2-0 down to win 4-2 with doubles for Sam Whitfield and Fabian Drifill including this free kick.

In the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Division One, Sandhurst Town missed the chance to go top after a 2-1 defeat to Cove – Luke Cox with the Fizzers goal.

Finally, in the Vanarama National League, Maidenhead United returned from Wrexham with a hard earned point. The Magpies led through an own goal off James Akintunde’s good work but it was Josh Smile who equalised in the second half and the game finished 2-2.

In the National League South, it was a very happy birthday to Slough Town co-boss Neil Baker who celebrated with a 2-0 win at home to Hemel Hempstead Town. The goals coming from Warren Harris in the 11th minute and Max Worsfold in the 41st.
