The season is well and truly undeway when you reach the first draw of the FA Cup, and following this weekends (21st/22nd August) matches, we’ll all be eagerly awaiting the 2026/27 FA Cup First Qualifying Round draw.
11 teams covered by Football in Berkshire are ‘in the hat’ for the First Qualifying Round draw and will play 10 matches over the weekend – including our pick of the round: Hungerford Town vs Wokingham Town on Friday night at Bulpit Lane.
The winners of the FA Cup Preliminary Round ties will be joined by Bracknell Town in the First Qualifying Round after the Robins were exempted from the opening rounds due to their Southern League Premier Division Step 3 status.

Which FA Cup First Qualifying Round match is being broadcast by the BBC?
It has not yet been confirmed whether the BBC will continue to broadcast FA Cup ‘early round’ games on the BBC Sport app and iPlayer, as it has in recent seasons, for example, last season with Tadley Calleva vs Weymouth.
An FA spokesperson told Football in Berkshire: “As guidance, the broadcast rights for the qualifying rounds sit separately to the competition proper. As per previous seasons, matches in the qualifying rounds may be selected for broadcast on an ad-hoc basis. We are hopeful for broadcast coverage of the qualifying rounds, and we will confirm if any arrangements are made on a round-by-round basis.”
Who’s in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round draw?
As well as the 12 Football in Berkshire sides in the draw, the FA Cup First Qualifying Round brings in the 88 teams from Step 3 of the English Football Pyramid, namely the Northern, Southern and Isthmian League Premier Division sides.
For Berkshire, this equals Bracknell Town, but also includes the likes of Dulwich Hamlet and recent FA Vase winners Chertsey Town and Warrington Rylands.
As it stands, the ‘in the hat’ sides are Ascot United, Tadley Calleva (subject to replay), Reading City and Windsor & Eton.
When is the FA Cup First Qualifying Round draw?
The draw for FA Cup First Qualifying Round is due to be released on FA channels on Monday 24th August. The Football Association have now confirmed the time of the release will be the traditional 1pm.
When will First Qualifying Round matches be played, and what is the prize money on offer?
FA Cup First Qualifying Round matches are due to take place on the weekend of Saturday 5th September 2026. The prize money split is £2,250 to 112 winning teams, and £750 to 112 losing teams.
