FA Cup 2026/27: Where your team will begin the 146th Road to Wembley

The 146th FA Cup is upon us so we've broken down, round by round, where each Berkshire side will start in the 2026/27 competition

The Football Association (FA) has been busy releasing dates and lists of teams entered into the 2026/27 FA Cup – the 146th edition – including which round each team will start in.

Football in Berkshire has been through the list and identified which round each Berkshire team will begin with.

Starting in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round

Weekend of: Saturday 8 August 2026. Prize money: Winners – £1,125, Losers – £375.

  • Abingdon United
  • Ascot United,
  • Binfield
  • Burnham
  • Didcot Town
  • Eversley & California
  • Holyport
  • Reading City
  • Tadley Calleva
  • Thatcham Town
  • Virginia Water
  • Wallingford & Crowmarsh
  • Windsor & Eton
  • Wokingham Town
  • Yateley United

Despite being Step 4 clubs, Ascot United, Binfield, Didcot Town and Windsor & Eton are all in the Extra Prelimary Round. The former three because they didn’t finish high enough in their Step 4 division, Windsor & Eton because they are newly promoted to Step 4.

Exempt to FA Cup Preliminary Round

Weekend of: Saturday 22 August 2026. Prize money: Winners – £1,125, Losers – £375.

  • Hungerford Town

This will be Hungerford Town’s earliest start in the FA Cup since 2012/13 when the club beat Beaconsfield SYCOB (now Town) and went on to win a replay against Banbury United before losing a replay to Merthyr Town.

Exempt to FA Cup First Qualifying Round

Weekend of: Saturday 5 September 2026. Prize money: Winners – £2,250, Losers – £750.

  • Bracknell Town

Since kicking off their FA Cup campaign in the First Qualifying Round in 2022/23, the Robins have twice reached the First Round Proper.

Exempt to FA Cup Second Qualifying Round

Weekend of: Saturday 19 September 2026. Prize money: Winners – £3,375, Losers – £1,125.

  • Maidenhead United
  • Slough Town

Last season, Slough broke an FA Cup record for Berkshire – becoming the first side to go further in the competition than Reading FC for 40 years.

It happened in the First Round when Slough beat Altrincham 2-1, while Reading under new manager Leam Richardson capitulated from 2-0 up at home to Mark Hughes’ Carlisle United, losing 3-2.

Exempt to FA Cup First Round Proper

Weekend of: Saturday 7 November 2026. Prize money: Winners – £47,750, Losers – £15,800.
