This weeks media round up starts with the Bracknell News talking briefly to Bracknell Town striker Sean Moore about stepping up to play in goal for the Robins on Saturday following an injury to Mark Scott.
There’s further details on Scott’s situation here, but Moore was the man who stuck his hand up and replaced the goalkeeper after 13 minutes in the 4-3 win against South Park.
23-year-old Moore said to the News: “I had played in goal for Woodley Town Kestrels which was about six or seven years ago so when Liam Day asked me if I wanted to go in goal, I said I could do the job. I thought I did okay.”
Speaking to Football in Bracknell, manager Geoff Warner said: “Sean was excellent and did really well. He was really unlucky with their third goal.”
Marlow boss Mark Bartley was ruing missed chances after his sides 1-0 defeat to Westfield in the Maidenhead Advertiser.
The former Bracknell defender said: “If we played that game 10 times we’d expect to win the other nine but we just have to dust ourselves down and go again.”
In the Wokingham Paper, and elsewhere on Football in Bracknell, Binfield manager Roger Herridge said Tuesday night’s performance in the 4-0 defeat to Abingdon United was the ‘worst of his tenure’.
Herridge didn’t hold back. He said: “Without doubt the worst 90 minutes of my tenure and there have been some bad ones in that time. Poor on every level.”
Thought it worth popping this in as well, being the stadium announcer isn’t as straight forward as you might think!
Speaking of Chipstead, this is a couple of weeks old but we’ve only just picked it up.
The Chips played promotion chasing Bracknell and Hayes & Yeading United back to back earlier in January with manager Anthony Williams having a few things to say about the differences between the two sides.
He said to Surrey Live: “We probably gave Hayes too much respect than we should have and sat off them too much and allowed them to play which caused us problems in the first half. We pressed a lot higher in the second half and that’s when we got our rewards. I don’t think they had a shot on target in the second half.
“In contrast, on Saturday we didn’t get close to Bracknell at all. I thought they were very well drilled and organised and in fact I thought they were more impressive to me across all areas than Hayes.”
