The biggest game of the Thames Valley Premier League season takes place this Saturday at Bohunt School in Wokingham where Finchampstead host Burghfield. The top two in the division face off against one another, and the result of the game will go a long way to deciding which side will go on to win the league.

Finch are four points behind Burghfield with a game in hand. The winners of the game will head into the remaining fixtures as strong favourites to win the Thames Valley Premier League.

Reigning champions Finchampstead have struggled to keep pace with a relentless Burghfield. Finch were defeated 4-1 by Yateley United last weekend and have only secured draws with Wargrave and Windlesham & Chobham in recent weeks.

Burghfield have been on a great run of form so far this year, and haven’t lost since a 3-0 reverse against Westwood Wanderers in late November.

Elsewhere in the league Yateley United look set to secure a top-five finish that they would require in order to earn a promotion to Step 6. However, it is still unclear as to whether they pass ground grading requirements.

With Woodley United Royals having completed their league season, the only way they can avoid finishing rock bottom is if Mortimer lose their remaining two games by more than a combined total of fifteen goals. Stranger things have happened. But not many.

However, for most, the biggest game of the weekend will be the Finch vs Burghfield first versus second clash. The title is too close to call going into late April.
