Neil Baker and Jon Underwood pragmatic in their responses to Tuesday night’s defeat to Hungerford Town in the Vanarama National League South.

The defeat makes it three in a row for the Rebels and three in a row against the Crusaders after the West Berkshire side did the double in 2019/20.

Underwood said on social media after the game: “Deservedly beaten by the better team on the night. Full credit to them but we have a lot of improving to do.”

Underwood, and his managerial partner Neil Baker have always been open and upfront come win, loss or draw and faced a similar situation at the start of the 2019/20 season when it was three consecutive defeats before a point was earned at Weymouth – the Rebels ultimately going on to earn a place in the National League South play-offs.

Baker tweeted: “Almost a 3 hour journey to Norfolk to reflect on the performance! Not lots can be said other than congrats to Hungerford who more than deserved the win on the night and showed desire and quality in abundance! Some poor performances and sloppy goals conceded! Much better needed!”

Slough have to recover quickly before a visit to Dartford on Saturday. Details of how to watch and listen to the game will be available here.
