Bracknell Town revealed on Wednesday evening that Liam Ferdinand and Joe Grant had both been called up by the FA for an ‘ambassadorial game’ on the Falkland Islands in November.
Details remain limited but Ferdinand is in the main squad while Marlow confirmed that forward Isaac Osei-Tutu would join Grant on the standby list.
Speaking to Football in Bracknell, Ferdinand revealed the news had given him a big boost. The former Binfield and Thatcham Town striker said: “Of course I’m very happy and excited as I would have never expected to get this opportunity.
“I am still a little shocked also as when I got the call asking to go down to the club on a day with no training or game it was the last thing that crossed my mind. Joe [Grant] said he thought he had left his boots at the club!”
“I couldn’t be happier with the news, it gives you a big boost and helps remind you that if you keep performing well at any level, anything can happen. It will be a great experience and I just want to make sure that I make the most of it and most importantly enjoy it.”
The squad will be managed by former Barnet and Stevenage Borough manager Paul Fairclough and the match will take place between Wednesday 7th November and Tuesday 13th November.
