Following the news from the AGM that Oxford City Nomads had withdrawn, the Uhlsport Hellenic League have released another slice of information.

There has been confirmation that the Hellenic League will trial sin bins for the 2018/19 season in it’s two Division 2 divisions (if there’s a better way of writing that, notes on an email..) and veterans divisions.

The league has posted on it’s website that: “Representatives of Uhlsport Hellenic League clubs at yesterday’s AGM, took a ‘straw poll’ on introducing this as a trial for the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division Two and Veterans League this season – 2018/2019. The project was warmly received and the vote on the 18/19 introduction was supported by the majority of Division TWO clubs.”

Sin bins were trialled in step 7 leagues during the 2017/18 season – it has been extended for the coming season and a full implementation is expected for the 2019/20 season.

According to the Hellenic League, the sin bins will only apply to yellow cards shown for dissent, and will see players leave the field for 10 minutes. Clubs are normally charged a £10 administration charge for each yellow card but the County FA’s will not be issuing this administration fee for those that participate and will be recompensed financially by the FA.
