In the Hellenic Division One East there is a Berkshire derby at Larges Lane as Wokingham & Emmbrook take on Woodley United. The two sides have met three times already this season with the Kestrels currently leading the head to head tally with 2 wins to the Sumas 1.
For Wokingham this will be one of their final 4 league games of the season, so a win is much needed if they are to push on from their current league position of 4th, as the other sides around them have games in hand.
Woodley are looking to move towards mid-table which would be a fine achievement considering their poor start to the season.
AFC Aldermaston are looking to make it six wins on the bounce when they welcome Abingdon Town to the Rec Soc. The Atomics are the division’s form side and currently sit in second place, a position they will look to consolidate at the weekend as some of the other teams around them do not have league matches.
Abingdon are on the other end of the form table having taken only 1 point in the league in the last 4 months. The two sides met 10 days ago in the Subsidiary Cup with Aldermaston progressing thanks to a resounding 8-0 win.
Stabmonks v Port
The other game in the division with local interest sees Holyport travel to Arbour Park to face Chalvey Sports. Chalvey, nicknamed the Stabmonks, currently sit a place and a point above Port and are undefeated in the league since before Christmas.
Holyport need a win to keep their promotion hopes alive and if they do come out on top would climb to 5th in the table, leapfrogging their opponents in the process. The two sides also met in the Subsidiary Cup 10 days ago with Port running out comprehensive 6-1 winners.
Can Fizzers take flight?
In the Combined Counties Division One Sandhurst Town make the trip to West London to face British Airways. The Fizzers are looking to improve on some inconsistent league form that has seen them take 7 points from their last 6 games and has stalled their bid for a top 6 finish, but a win on Saturday would put them back on course to achieve that pre-season goal.
BA have only won once so far in 2019, and currently sit 3 places and 6 points behind Sandhurst in the table.
Away from league action, Wallingford Town host Highworth Town Reserves in the Supplementary Cup. Highworth play in the Hellenic Division Two West where they sit in 6th position out of 13 teams, and they are in good form as they have won all four league games they have played since the turn of the year.
Wally made it to this stage in the competition following a thumping 5-0 win over Hellenic Premier side Shrivenham so will be hoping for more of the same in this round. The winner will go on to play Flackwell Heath away in the quarter finals.
