Clubs in the Thames Valley Premier League will have a new ground to visit during the 22/23 season with Wargrave FC moving to Burnham’s 1878 Stadium (previously known as the Gore).
Last season Chalvey Sports had used Burnham’s ground during their Combined Counties League Division One campaign. However, after relegation to the Thames Valley Premier League, the Stabmonks have moved back to Slough and will be playing home fixtures at the Eltham Avenue Recreation Ground.
Burnham FC have done a great job during the 21/22 season hosting a wide array of East Berkshire League matches on Friday evening so is no stranger to hosting matches at Step 7/8 level.
The Burnham FC website quotes Wargrave’s manager Callum Hunter saying : “We have agreed terms and we are delighted to be playing at the 1878 Stadium this season. The new state of the art 3G pitch will help us improve our game, develop as a team and our supporters will benefit from the fantastic onsite facilities too.”
This move would make Wargrave eligible for promotion from the Thames Valley Premier League should they finish in the top five, and also be the highest placed club in the division.
Wargrave aren’t the only club on the move in the Thames Valley Premier League with Windlesham & Chobham making a move to play at Virginia Waters home “The Timbers” during the upcoming season.
Wargrave will make their debut at their new home on the evening of Wednesday 27th July against Sandhurst Sports. If you fancy popping along it’s a 7pm kick-off with free admission.
