Wokingham Town’s Tilly Baigent is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Young Player of the Season (Female) sponsored by Procision Football Academy.
The youngster has played eight times for Wokingham this season in the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League Division Three South, but has made a big impression on her team mates since coming into the side midway through the season.
One nomination for the award said: “Tilly has been playing in our Under 18’s team at Wokingham Town. She reached out and asked to train with the ladies team to learn and progress. She attended training on her own and showed great progress from this. So much so that she started playing in the ladies team on a Sunday whilst continuing playing on Saturdays and subsequently moved into the ladies starting 11 through her performances. I think she is an amazing footballer but also a great person. She is so humble and a great team player. She has progressed exponentially and has made a mark on our ladies team. She deserves recognition for this!”
Another added: “Because Tilly has made such an impact in our team. She came in midway through the season as part of her individual development. She is only 16, and juggles her youth team on a Saturday and Monday and the ladies team on Sundays and Wednesdays.
“She has become an integral part of our defence and sure do miss her on the odd occasion she misses a game. She’s very dedicated to the game and has now become as part of our starting 11 each week. She’s a solid player, who can meet toe to toe to any player she is against.”
