Thames Valley Premier League side Reading YMCA continue to make the most of their Padworth home ground with further improvements to facilities at ‘The Cauldron’.

Following on from a Football Foundation grant last summer, the club have completed work on a covered area for supporters at their ground which doubles as Padworth Village Hall.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire 12 months ago following the grant award, Mark Lemm said: “We have received a lot of support from the Football Foundation over the past 18 months and it has had a big impact on improving our pitch and infrastructure. The new covered area will allow spectators to watch matches in comfort when the weather is bad. It is a really short close season this year after finishing at the end of June but we hope to have this project completed by the start of the new season.

“This funding will go a long way to improving our facility and provide spectators with a better experience on match days.”

It’s been a bit of a summer of change at the Young Men – who have just celebrated 125 years, with a new manager announced in Christian Bartlett while long-serving player Lemm announced his retirement at the end of last season after 600 odd games to focus on a behind the scenes role at the club.
