Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Divison North side Windsor have confirmed the club’s new manager.

Following the departure of Mark Cooper last week, the Royalists have reappointed former boss Mick Woodham to the Stag Meadow hot seat.

Woodham, most recently in charge of Staines Town, returns to Windsor having stepped down in August 2019 after originally taking the role in 2012.

During his original tenure, Woodham repeatedly inspired Windsor to success with two very memorable FA Vase runs to the Quarter Finals and Fifth Round and led the club to the Hellenic League Challenge Cup Final in his final season.

Speaking to the Maidenhead Advertiser this week, Windsor chairman Kevin Stott said applications had arrived moments after Cooper’s departure was announced: “I think within 30 minutes of making that announcement, we had eight applications.

“That was more than a surprise. I have been away for a few days, so I haven’t caught up with Malcolm Williams (club secretary) in a while. But I have contacted everybody that initially made the application and had conversations so that’s where we are at. Once I’ve properly caught up with Malcolm, we’ll create a shortlist and then take it from there. I’d like to be in the position to make a decision later this week.”

In the same Advrtiser piece, Cooper revealed he had made a substantial offer to buy the club, but the offer was turned down by Stott.
