Reading City manager Simon Johnson will make it 100 games in charge on Saturday in the Combined Counties League tie with Holyport.

Johnson, appointed during the 2018/19 season following the departure of Rob Creech, led the Cityzens to survival in his first season after battling against the drop from the Hellenic League Premier Division.

The following two seasons were aborted due to the Covid-19 pandemic meaning the Cityzens boss is yet to complete a full season despite his best efforts.

Speaking to the clubs official website, Johnson said when asked about his most memorable match in charge: “I’ve had a lot that I’ve really enjoyed but the one that sticks out was the first game of last season, a 3-1 win away to Lydney. A tough place to go, let alone on the first game of the season, but the squad has worked really hard over pre season and it showed as we blew them away in the first half an hour.”

Football in Berkshire offers its congratulations to Simon on the milestone, here’s to the next 100.
