Bracknell Town Football Club’s application for the refurbishment of Larges Lane has been approved by Bracknell Forest Borough Council planning committee and was announced at the end-of-season presentation awards by chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse on Friday night.
The news means the club can begin work installing a ‘3G’ artificial surface at the ground similar to those being installed at Slough Town and Maidenhead United – as well as refurbishing the pitch side buildings and will go forward with a brand new club crest as detailed here.
The application received 126 public comments – with three objections to the scheme – on the Bracknell Forest Borough Council planning application website.
Debt free at Larges Lane
The other exciting news for Bracknell supporters was the announcement that the club is now debt free after long-standing loans with a property developer and brewery were paid off.
Statement of intent
Speaking to FootballinBracknell, Mr. Steinborn-Busse released a statement on behalf of the club which we’ve reproduced in full:
The Approval is a significant step forward for BTFC, the path has now been cleared for us to commence construction of the 3G pitch over the Summer. The pitch is phase 1 of a 3 phase project at the Larges Lane site.
Phase 2 will see the building’s significantly modernised with new changing rooms, classrooms, Out door functional gym, and commercial areas to be built. The work will commence once the Housing Application has been approved.
Phase 3 will be the houses/flats that will sit on the Larges Lane end of the site which is currently in the planning process.
We are very ambitious, and that ambition is now starting to show. We want to have a successful football club, playing at a level that can make the wider town proud. Our plans are underpinned by a sound business model that will expand into delivering education at the Lane for 16 to 18 year olds.
Our plans don’t stop with the current site, we have also secured a permanent home for our Youth and Junior section, this significant step will enable the club to invest in improving the playing surface for our younger 5 v 5 / 7 v 7 and 9 v 9 matches.
Our aim is clear, if you are a young boy or girl living in Bracknell we want you to join us and be proud of the club and its great new facilities. We will be able to offer a pathway from under 6 right up to senior football and beyond with our walking football. The facilities will be one of the best in the country for a non league club, especially at our current level and will be the first 3G surface with a stadium in the county.
What do you think of Bracknell’s plans? Are you looking forward to a brand new Larges Lane? Let us know in the comments below.
