On Tuesday night, Maidenhead became the centre of the universe as Hollywood and non-league football collided with the visit of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and the club they co-own, Wrexham AFC.
The Deadpool and Always Sunny In Philadelphia duo left York Road disappointed however with the Maidenhead United winning the Vanarama National League tie 3-2, but one thing that’s been missed in the nationwide publicity surrounding the game is that amongst the Magpies support was an even bigger star.
Obviously, with our lead image on the article we’ve given the game away, but in the stands wearing his Maidenhead United woolly hat was none other than 80s and 90s chaos-causer in chief, Timmy Mallett.

A well known supporter of the National League side, the Wacaday star roared on Alan Devonshire’s side to victory in his trademark glasses as goals from Kane Ferdinand and Jay Mingi put the homeside 2-0 up before Josh Kelly’s 77th minute winner after Wrexham had clawed it back it 2-2.
80s and 90s kids TV star Timmy Mallett is a regular at York Road
Mallett revealed a little more about his love for the Magpies – who’s games he attends with his son – during the third lockdown in an interview with BerkshireLive’s Hugh Fort: “Maidenhead United is tremendous.
“We can’t wait to get back there.
“It’s just real, and it’s good, and everyone there has a terrific time.
“And they could go up, into the football league.
“We were very sceptical when the club revealed this ambition a few years ago, now we’re all behind it.”
Mallett, who lives in Cookham, was promoting his book “Utterly Brilliant” at the time and spoke about his friendship with ex-Reading striker Dave Kitson, a cycling pilgrimage across Europe in memory of his brother and as well as his love of Berkshire where he’s lived for more than 30 years.
