The Thames Valley Premier League division constitution for 2026/27 has been released and will include former Isthmian League side Chalfont St Peter.

The Buckinghamshire side will take their place after relegation from the Combined Counties League Division One alongside three-in-a-row title winners Westwood Wanderers and promotion hopefuls Newbury Town.

It’s been a busy off-season in the league already with Devonn Reid ending his glorious spell in charge of Westwood to take the reins at Newbury, while Steve Melledew has returned to Burghfield after a spell away with Reading YMCA and Newbury.

Cookham Dean have also returned to the top tier after four seasons away. The Maidenhead-based club spent 32 years at the top of the Reading Senior League (later the TVPL) but the club took a break from senior football at the end of the 20/21 season, returning in 2022 in the TVPL Division Two. At the time Vice Chairman Martyn Newell said: “Cookham have a long and successful history and have reformed the senior section for 22/23 following a one-season break.”

Cookham won Division One last season on goal difference from Allied Community Elite after both sides finished on 48 points while Chalfont finished rock bottom of the Combined Counties League Division One after conceding 119 goals.

The village side have suffered a bit of a fall from grace having had two lengthy spells as an Isthmian League side between 1984 and 2006 and then 2011 to 2022. The club’s highest finish being 11th in 90/91 as a Step 3 side ahead of the likes of Dulwich Hamlet, Boreham Wood, Lewes and now National League Worthing.
