Women’s Football Pyramid (WFP) club allocations for Tiers 1-6 for the 2026/27 season have been announced, with some tasty encounters in prospect for the new campaign.
In Tier 4, Ascot United and Maidenhead United will resume Berkshire rivalry after three memorable encounters during a 2025/26 ‘best ever’ season for both sides. The Yellas, who have recently appointed Aym’e Melham as manager, had the edge over Dave Kitson’s Magpies, taking four points from the two league fixtures and winning the Berks & Bucks Cup final 2-1 at Beaconsfield.
The two Berkshire sides will have another set of fixtures to contend with as Wycombe Wanderers have been promoted to FAWNL Division One South West for the first time. Other newcomers to the division will clock up more miles on the road for the Yellas and the Magpies, with trips to Wales to face Gwalia United, relegated from Tier 3, and South West Region Women’s Football League champions Torquay United sure to present challenging journeys to two sides who operate without the financial backing of some other clubs in their division.
Life in Tier 5 gets no easier for Reading and Woodley United with Chesham United inserted into the Premier Division of the Southern Region Women’s Football League following relegation from Tier 4 last season. With Denham United and ambitious Farnham Town making upward moves into the division, it is no wonder that Royals manager Ed Jackson-Norris has described the line up as “a cracker”, adding that “any one of six will probably fancy themselves for top spot”.
Meanwhile, a division below in Division One North of the Southern Region Women’s Football League, there will be another all-Berkshire affair as newly promoted Finchampstead will take on Slough Town. Newcomers to Division One North will be Badshot Lea, relegated from Tier 5 last season.
