Windsor & Eton’s Luke Phillips is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Young Player of the Season (Male) sponsored by Procision Football Academy.
The young defender has made his mark with 34 appearances, scoring three times in the process.
“I think left back, but I am happy to play further forward as well,” Phillips said in an interview with the club’s media this season – he proved it on Tuesday night in the 4-1 win at Reading City, playing at number seven and scoring the Royalists second goal after the Cityzens had gone 1-0 up.
The nomination we received for this award said: “For someone so young, his maturity and drive on the pitch have been incredible this season. Step 5, yes, but nonetheless, lots of pressure matches, lots of good players to defend against. Add to that real ball control and attacking intent.”
He was also nominated for this award in 2023, with the nominator writing: “Luke played a pivotal role in the hugely successful Ascot United Allied U18 team who narrowly missed out on the league title. Playing at left back he was still able to secure joint top-goalscorer with seven goals to his name.”
