Maidenhead United have confirmed manager Alan Devonshire will step down at the end of November.
Devonshire’s second spell in charge of Maidenhead began in May 2015 and he oversaw a sensational National League South championship win as well as eight uninterrupted seasons in the top tier of non-league football.
A statement from the club said “Dev will be taking charge of our next two fixtures against Salisbury and Chippenham Town, before stepping down after the final whistle on Saturday, 29th November.”
The Magpies suffered relegation in the summer and after a promising start to the season, have now lost seven of their last eight games including Saturdays 1-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge.
Devonshire will lead Maidenhead away to Salisbury on Tuesday night, with his final game the home fixture against Chippenham Town on Saturday 29th November at 3pm. Tickets for what will undoubtedly be a bumper crowd for Dev’s final fixture are available now by clicking here.

Ryan Peters: Maidenhead United’s next manager

While Alan Devonshire steps down, the club have announced long-serving assistant manager Ryan Peters will take over as interim boss.
Peters has long been the face of the clubs management team, taking on media duties before and after matches. 38-year old Peters made over 50 appearances for Maidenhead as a right-back between 2015 and 2019 having begun his playing career with Brentford.
He will be supported by Aaron O’Brien, another familiar face around York Road.
