Boost their chances:

Ross Weatherstone – the Binfield manager – is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Manager of the Season (Men’s Game).

Weatherstone has just lead his Moles side on ‘The Great Escape’ as Binfield avoided relegation on the final day of the Isthmian League season.

One nomination for the award said: Rosco has gone into an impossible job and made it possible. The fact he has gone from a 9-0 loss in his early games in charge to the amount of wins he has accumulated, is outstanding. This is more than a new manager bounce, he has brought all parts of the club together again on and off the pitch. We are lucky to have Ross as a manager within our county.”

Another added: “Ross joined Binfield in the busy Christmas period with the club at the bottom of the league, with no wins and just four points and a goal difference of 60+. He has retained just one coach, the physio and seven players from the previous managers’ time and added a further 17 players to his squad, including two Bermudian full internationals and one England Schoolboy International, who recently captained his country.

“With three games left we now have one team below us who can’t catch us and one above us who has one point more with only two games left. Our goal difference has improved but can’t help us. Basically win our games or win one more than Chipstead and we stay in this league. That’s why I’m making this nomination because the club’s management gave Rosco a nigh impossible task to bring in 75% of a new squad and blend them, and his coaching team in no time at all and create a winning ethos, which he has done. If we stay up, that is a phenomenal effort.

Agree that Ross Weatherstone should be up for the Manager of the Season (Men’s Game) award? Or do you have someone else in mind? Let us know in the nomination form below:

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED!

Yes! The awards are taking place at the marvellous Double-Barrelled Brewery in Reading and we’ll have food available. Tickets will be limited but on sale from 28th May. If you’d like to know when, so you don’t miss out, make sure you’ve signed up to our email newsletter here.

Scroll down to the bottom of this article for the nomination form. Before you do that though, here’s what the judging panel are looking for when choosing the shortlist.

What’s the story? Tell us exactly why the person or place should be considered. We hate to get all ‘X Factor journey’ on you but the more detail you can include, the better we can argue for your nominee for the short list.

The sort of details we love to see include things like player awards, goals, clean sheets and any other significant contributions to the footballing community – obviously within the 2024/25 season.

We’ll publish all the nominees for the Berkshire Football Awards as we receive them.

You can view all the 2025 nominees so far here.

Want to know who’s previously won what at the Berkshire Football Awards? There’s a big long page with all the previous winners here.

Nominations will be open until midday on Monday 26th May 2025.

The Long List will be published on Wednesday 28th May and the Short List on Friday 30th May.

Once the nomination window has closed, the nominations in each category will be put before a panel of judges for a decision, the top four announced online and the winners at the awards night on Wednesday 18th June.

We will accept nominations for people out of area, the only prerequisite is that the reason for nomination is that it must be because of an affiliation with a club we cover on Football in Berkshire (a full list is at the bottom of this page). We will present certificates and a trophy to the winners.

  • All nominations are done by you, the Berkshire footballing public
  • You can nominate as many people as you like for each award – the quantity of nominations counts for the judging panel..
  • That said, quality is just as important, the more detail you provide about why you are nominating, the better
  • Please try and avoid nominating your own family members
  • Due to difficulties in obtaining permissions under child protection laws we won’t consider any player under the age of 16 for nomination in any of the categories
