‘I believe in miracles’ sang Hot Chocolate’s Errol Brown, but no word on whether he believed in 90+9 minute goals or being 2-0 up and drawing 3-3 but still getting the point you needed.
If you think that point was laboured, imagine watching Binfield have almost all of the the game but go into the last 10 minutes at Hill Farm Lane a goal down and knowing your relegation rivals game had been abandoned.
Both the Moles and Bracknell Town needed a point and both eventually got them.
Killian Barrett in the Binfield goal was arguably hero one, diving smartly to save a one v one situation that could have put them 2-0 down, hero two was undoubtedly Ethan Lindo, Weatherstone’s first signing as Moles boss, who finally managed to get the all important goal and equaliser after Tyler D’Cruz’s own goal.
The Great Escape bellowed across the tannoy at full time, a truly remarkable achievement.
Down the road in Sandhurst, Bracknell Town were 2-0 up at home to Hayes & Yeading United through Vigrass and Vaughan before the relegation threatened visitors hauled it back to 2-2.
With Merthyr Town eventually beating Harrow Borough 7-1 Bracknell couldn’t afford to lose and Jordan Esprit made if 3–2 before a penalty made it 3-3.
The result sends Hayes & Yeading down while Bracknell go into a play off semi final against AFC Totton.
Editors note: An earlier version of this story said that Ethan Lindo had been with Binfield all season – in fact he was Ross Weatherstone’s first signing. We apologise for this error.
