FA Women’s National League Maidenhead United paid tribute to departing Imogen Fisher at the weekend with a guard of honour after defeating Haywards Heath Town 4-2.

Fisher – who recently represented the Army team on a tour of Australia – spoke to Neil Maskell in the Maidenhead Advertiser, saying the team was like a family: “It’s a football club that I love, my football friends become my family and it’s the same with the coaches so, I’m gutted to leave and hopefully I’ll find a new team after Christmas. I’m gutted to leave, and I’ve loved being with the girls.”

Fisher’s job in the Army means regular moves around the country having departed her previous club, Sutton Coldfield Town, for the same reasons.

In March 2023, Football in Berkshire wrote about Fisher’s Army representative exploits: “With Berkshire-based players on international duty last week, Imogen Fisher of Maidenhead United Women enjoyed a rather different – but no less prestigious – taste of representative football last week.

“The 24 year old – who has scored seven times this season for the Magpies in the FA Women’s National League Division 1 South West – is a nurse in the Army and had the honour of representing her employers in the Inter-Services Tri-Tournament over the past few weeks.”
