Vanarama National League side Solihull Moors have snapped up Maidenhead United’s star attraction Josh Kelly.

Moors finished third and made the play-offs before being knocked out by eventual winners Grimsby Town.

A statement released by the Magpies revealed the club had received a fee for the transfer of Kelly’s services: “Maidenhead United Football Club can confirm that forward Josh Kelly has joined fellow Vanarama National League club, Solihull Moors, on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.

“We wish Josh all the best for the future.”

The forward came through the clubs academy system and started to make his mark on the Magpies in 2018. He went on to make 127 appearances scoring 27 goals.

Kelly’s former manager Alan Devonshire said the opportunity for full time football was a factor: “We are obviously gutted to lose Josh and had hoped he would stay for the final year of his contract, but he wanted a new challenge and the opportunity for full time football, so we had to make the difficult decision to let him go.”

Writing on Twitter, Kelly said: “Thank you to everyone at Maidenhead, I’ve made some great memories over the years! I’ve loved every minute of it and wish you all the best for the future!”
