Vanarama National League Maidenhead United have had their Buildbase FA Trophy fixture at home to Maidstone United cancelled following a number of Covid cases within the club.

The cancellation, under FA rules, means the Magpies have been forced to withdraw from the competition and Maidstone – of the National League South – handed a walkover.

A statement released on social media by Maidenhead said: “Due to a number of COVID-19 cases at Maidenhead United, we have withdrawn from this year’s FA Trophy. As a result, this Saturday’s fixture against Maidstone United has been cancelled. The Stones have a bye into the next round and we wish them all the best.”

The club have also announced refunds will be made to all who bought tickets.

The knock on effect to Maidenhead’s fixtures is as yet unclear. The Magpies are due to travel to Ascot United in the Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Cup on Tuesday and Wealdstone on Boxing Day.
