Two straight wins, two former Football League clubs vanquished. All in a weeks work for Maidenhead United manager Alan Devonshire who has been named the Vanarama National League’s Manager of the Week.

The Magpies beat Chesterfield 2-0 on Saturday thanks to strikes from Nathan Blissett and Dan Sparkes while promotion chasing Torquay United were dismantled 4-1 at York Road on Tuesday night with Blissett twice on target and goals apiece for Josh Coley and Danilo Orsi-Dadomo.

That duo of home wins came hot on the heals of a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge and a run of six games without a win.

Speaking to the Maidenhead Advertiser post match on Tuesday, assistant manager Ryan Peters said: “To be able to do the same as what they did to us [Maidenhead lost 2-1 at Torquay earlier in the season] and score a few more goals than they did, I’m over the moon with that.

“We try to keep as many clean sheets as possible and we weren’t able to do it tonight (Tuesday), but you can see we’ve got a defensive resilience about us now.
