Callum Vallance ensures Finchampstead are back with a bang

Finch hosted Reading City at the Memorial Ground

Callum Vallance scored twice as unbeaten leaders Finchampstead defeated Reading City 23s 4-0 when the Thames Valley Premier League programme resumed last Saturday.

The lively left-winger opened his account in the 15th minute and four minutes later his well-placed cross was swept home at the far post by Stephen Hunt.

Vallance increased Finchampstead’s lead with a neat finish just after the half-hour mark and the hosts added a fourth on the stroke of half-time when James Payne netted from the penalty spot after Hunt had been brought down on the left side of the penalty area.

Chris Payne’s men were unable to increase their lead even though pointless City were reduced to 10 men after 54 minutes when substitute Ben Grey was sent off for a reckless challenge. His manager Deano Jones encroached onto the pitch to remonstrate with referee Harry Middleton and he, too, was shown the red card.

Finch will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven games when they host Mortimer this coming Saturday.
