It didn’t take long, but former Maidenhead United attacker Sam Barratt has been snapped up by a Vanarama National League rival.
The former Bracknell Town and Woodley United man announced his departure on Tuesday and was confirmed as a Barnet player by 5pm.
Barratt, who played 25 times for the Magpies last season and won two England C caps during his time in Berkshire, strengthens a Bees side that finished 5th, losing in the First Round of the Play-offs to Boreham Wood.

Confirming his York Road departure, Barratt wrote on Twitter: “After a tough season on and off the pitch, for me personally, I have decided a fresh start and new challenge is exactly what I need. I have loved my second spell back at York Road these past three seasons and wish everyone the best of luck for the upcoming season.

The forward is the latest long-serving Magpie to depart, joining Ryan Upward (now at Farnborough) and Adrian Clifton in heading through the exit door at York Road.
