Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division North Burnham were celebrating the success of one of their number this week after a confirmed move to Football League side Leyton Orient.

Defender Ethan Light will join up with the EFL League Two leaders, it was confirmed in a club statement on Friday, becoming the latest Berkshire talent to head to the professional ranks.

In a statement released by Burnham, first team manager Ben Murray explained: “As a club we are proud to announce that Ethan has been signed by Leyton Orient, it’s something that he truly deserves and the whole squad are all behind him in his pursuit to continue striving forwards in his football career.”

Light played 16 times for Burnham this season scoring twice for his team who he leaves in a healthy 6th position with games in hand on several clubs above the blues in the table.

Murray added: “We announced formally to the group at a team meal on Thursday night and all of the lads were really pleased for him and we wish him all the best at Leyton Orient and their quest for promotion to League One.

“What Ethan has proved is that we do things the right way at Burnham, we create an environment which prepares young exciting players for the next step on their football journey, this is something that I and the club are extremely proud of.”

Already this season, fellow defender Edon Pruti – formerly of Slough Town – made the move to Premier League Brentford while Thatcham Town’s Daniel Fosu switched to Arbroath in Scotland where he has made 18 appearances for the Red Lichties.
