A busy few days at East Berks Football League champions Britwell as well as Thames Valley Premier League new boys Chalvey Sports as both clubs add strength up top.

Champions for the first time in 2022, Britwell have signed up Old Windsor’s top scorer Harry Farnan with manager John Brennan saying the move required ‘a charm offensive’.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire about Farnan – who scored 16 goals for Windsor last season – Brennan said: “He was their top goal scorer last season with 16 and for me their best player. He’s an excellent signing for Britwell as he adds more goals, work rate and a positive attitude and it came about as he knows most of our boys and works with my co-manager James Richardson who alerted me to his availability. I did my usual charm offensive coupled with him coming along and seeing for himself and playing against us previously so he knows he’s on to a good thing!”

Meanwhile, Chalvey – who will play in the TVPL Premier following relegation from the Combined Counties League – have added the experience of striker John Swift to their ranks.

Most recently with Maidenhead Town, Swift numbers Bracknell Town, Berks County as well as numerous other among his former clubs with the Stabmonks looking to stabilise following a traumatic 2021/22.

Chalvey have also confirmed the club won’t be back at Burnham next season with Wargrave taking their place. The club will be back in Slough and will be playing home fixtures at the Eltham Avenue Recreation Ground.
